CPIP ™  -

Certified Pharmaceutical Industry Professional Program

As part of the government-wide initiative to drive innovation and improve drug quality, the US Food and Drug Administration  encouraged ISPE to create a credential to recognize comprehensive knowledge in the pharmaceutical industry, and the Certified Pharmaceutical Industry Professional™  (CPIP™ ) credential is the result of that effort.

The CPIP™ credential is valuable to industry professionals and their employers because it:

-Establishes the first global competency standard for pharmaceutical industry professionals
-Gives employers the competitive advantage of a recognized credential
-Provides a professional development pathway to career advancement
-Unlocks greater career opportunities
-Recognizes expertise in the industry and among peers

ISPE’s Professional Certification Commission (ISPE-PCC) has identified seven knowledge elements and the ISPE Training organization has created 17 study modules to provide a broad base of knowledge in each of these seven areas:

1. Product Development
2. Facilities and Equipment
3. Information Systems
4. Production Systems
5. Quality Systems
6. Regulatory Compliance
7. Supply Chain Management

ISPE Members can study for the exam on their own, and modules are available for individual purchase at $150 each. However, they are available for FREE if Members participate in a Chapter-sponsored study group.

The Boston Area Chapter is committed to helping its Members prepare for and obtain the CPIP TM credential. At present, we host two study groups each year (spring and fall) where individuals can study together, pool resources and share their varied experiences in a group setting. Contact our office by phone at (781) 647-4773 or by email at office@ispeboston.org for more information, or visit www.ispe-pcc.org .

Individuals who have attained this credential have comprehensive expertise in all aspects of pharmaceuticals and have the broad-based background to make valuable contributions to any organization or project. Employers are encouraged to ask for and seek out individuals with this credential when making hiring or personnel decisions.

The Boston Area Chapter is home to more CPIP's than any other Chapter in the world.
