Biotech 101 Kicks Off with Upstream Focus

In September, Takeda Pharmaceuticals hosted the first ISPE Biotech 101 event, “Introduction to Upstream Bioprocessing”. The session drew over 50 attendees, including students from local universities, emerging leaders, and industry professionals. Minhazuddin Mohammed and Grace Lee co-presented an overview of upstream manufacturing, highlighting key design components of different types of bioreactors, along with important economic considerations. Guests then experienced a window tour of the cell culture manufacturing space at Takeda. Attendees had the opportunity to view and better understand some of the equipment that they were introduced to in the presentation. As with most events, there was a great meal with wonderful networking! We’re already looking forward to our next event, “Intro to Downstream Processing” on November 19th!
