The ISPE Emerging Leaders Committee invites students, recent graduates, and young professionals to the third installment of the Biotech 101 Series—an evening dedicated to learning and networking. This session focuses on downstream bioprocessing, offering insights into the foundational technologies, equipment, and practices that drive the pharmaceutical industry. Attendees will also enjoy an exclusive tour of MilliporeSigma’s M-Lab™ Collaboration Center, gaining a firsthand look at biomanufacturing excellence. Whether you’re just entering the field, exploring career options, or looking to strengthen your understanding of downstream processes, this event provides valuable knowledge, industry connections, and opportunities to engage with peers—all while enjoying food and refreshments.

*Closed-toed shoes are required to enter the M Lab Collaboration Center. Please dress appropriately.

Speakers:

Angelica Welch
Angelica Welch is a MSAT consultant at ValSource with 15 years of biopharmaceutical experience. She is a subject matter expert in manufacturing sciences and technology, specializing in design and support of downstream biologics operations. Angie's experience includes the full spectrum of process development, characterization, transfer, validation and operations support.  Throughout her career Angie has supported operations in the lab and on the manufacturing floor. Angie earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Adam Sokolnicki
Adam Sokolnicki is Director of the MSAT-Downstream group of Biomanufacturing Engineers at MilliporeSigma. His team assists biomanufacturers across North America in establishing robust, reliable, and reproducible downstream processes through hands-on application training, characterization and scaling studies, on-site support for facility startup, and the development of best practices utilizing MilliporeSigma technologies. He has a passion for and expertise in bioprocess equipment and single-use technologies, as critical components in downstream manufacturing. Prior to joining MilliporeSigma, he spent his early career conducting process development, process engineering, and technology transfer for clinical and commercial manufacturing at the biotech Altus Pharmaceuticals.  Adam has 20 years of industry experience in biopharmaceuticals and life science.  He obtained a BS and a MS in chemical engineering from Tufts University in Medford, MA.
