On Thursday, July 20th the Educational Programs and Women in Pharma Committees hosted a gathering at PCI Cleanroom Contracting in Holliston, MA for a panel discussion on Accelerating Speed to Market from a Construction perspective. The consensus of the panel was that a design assist model is superior to a design-bid-build model in achieving speed to market, which is generally seen as an industry norm. Key drivers of this design assist model are bringing in partners during the basis of design (or earlier!) and having MEP vendors AND client representation engaged in meetings early on. Bringing in the trades early on builds trust between the groups to act as one team to bring the project to delivery; one trades success is another success and vice versa. The design assist model leads to cultural alignment, commitment, and understanding of conditions as they exist, and understanding the client’s conditions of satisfaction upfront.
In addition, attendees were able to network with industry peers while enjoying snacks and drinks, tour the three mock cleanrooms, and engage with vendor representatives to get their questions answered about materials and functionality in the mock cleanroom environments.
Thank you to our panelists: Victoria Cowan (PCI Cleanroom Contracting), Christopher Cody (CRB), David Howard (P&H Electrical), and our moderator Dennis Fischer (CRB). The Women in Pharma Committee would like to extend a special thank you to Victoria Cowan, our “Women in Pharma” representative on the panel for bringing deep knowledge and experience to light with our other panel experts.
Thank you to our Educational Program Sponsors CAI, DPS Group, ICQ, and Masy Bioservices. Thank you to our Women in Pharma Bar Sponsor, DECCO. And, thank you to our site host PCI Cleanroom Contracting. This program would not have been possible without your generous support.
