SPEAKERS:
I started my journey in the biotech industry as an intern at a small
biotech company during my last semester of college. The exposure to different
aspects of the organization really sparked my interest in the field. It was
incredibly rewarding for me to be able to have direct influence in developing a
novel therapeutic and its path to market. During my time with the organization
I worked in process development, marketing, analytical development, and quality
control. I had my first leadership role here overseeing a small team of lab
technicians. As the company grew, so did my responsibilities and I took on
several leadership roles within quality control where I was responsible for
method qualifications, EMPQ, stability studies and implementation of cGMP lab.
In 2021, I moved to Boston to continue working in the CDMO space where I am
currently Director of Analytical Development. I absolutely love being in a
position that allows me to foster a creative working and learning environment.
I received my B.S. in Chemical
Engineering, with a concentration in Biomolecular Engineering and minor in Theology,
from the University of Notre Dame in 2018. Growing up with a brother with
special needs, I have always felt connected to patients and families
navigating the world of rare diseases and knew I wanted to use my
Engineering degree to impact a similar patient population. I started my career
in the biopharma industry at Takeda Pharmaceuticals (formerly Shire) in a
rotational program, spending 2.5 years gaining broad industry experience in
Safety Engineering, Global Quality in Device and Combination Product
Development, and supporting the production of biologics as a Manufacturing,
Science, & Technology Engineer. After spending some time getting
hands-on in the lab as a Purification Development Engineer, I was
presented with my first leadership opportunity to be a Manufacturing Supervisor
in 2022. The combination of technical production support, employee engagement
and professional development, and connection to patients has been incredibly
fulfilling. I moved from Takeda to uniQure Pharmaceuticals at the end of 2022
and am currently a Manufacturing Senior Supervisor responsible for Bioreactor
production and overseeing 7 technicians. When I'm not spending time with my
husband, Mark, and our friends, I am working to progress in my M.S. in
Engineering Management program through Tufts, which I hope to complete in 2025.
