The Biotechnology of Beer

What can biotech learn from the brewing industry? It turns out, quite a bit! Join us to learn about the microbiology of beer and the interesting role yeast plays in brewing, as well as what lessons we can take away from the industry. The event will consist of presentations from two accomplished brewers with scientific backgrounds, and networking with food and beer. Please note: this is a 21+ venue

Tom Wilber, Barleycorn’s Craft Brew
Tom Wilber, is a Co-owner of New BCB LLC.  Along with his brother in law, Fred Kelly, Tom purchased the assets of Barleycorn's Craft Brew in June 2017.  New BCB LLC recently received a Farmer-Brewery license and approval provide beer samples and pours at their Natick location.  This adds a great value to our on-site and homebrewers as they can sample what they are going to make.  A combination of timing, a passion for brewing and growing businesses let Tom to this new project.   He began homebrewing in 1999 which had starts and stops based on the volume and timing of family activities.  Tom also has a background in finance and technology and holds a BS in Accounting from Northeastern University.
